P3 - PE Assessment

Semester 1

Manipulative Skills

  1. Basketball Dribble (Stationary)
    • Contact – uses only pads of all fingers to contact ball
    • Push – arm extends downwards as ball is pushed down
    • Ball Position – ball bounces diagonally in front of body, away from legs
    • Execution – able to perform at least 3 consecutive dribbles (1 set of downward and upward movement of ball is considered 1 dribble)
  2. Basketball Dribble (Walking)
    • Contact – uses only pads of all fingers to contact ball
    • Push – arm extends downwards as ball is pushed down
    • Ball Position – ball bounces diagonally in front of body, away from legs (ball should be further in front of body then during stationary dribble)
    • Execution – able to perform at least 3 consecutive dribbles (1 set of downward and upward movement of ball is considered 1 dribble) 
  3. Safety Skills
    • Able to follow teacher’s instructions
    • Able to play safely with peers
    • Able to handle equipment with care


Semester 2

NAPFA Items

  1. Standing Board Jump
    • Ready – stand with toes just behind take-off line
    • Wind-up – bend knees to about 90 degrees
    • Take-off – take-off with both feet
    • Landing – land on both feet
  2. Shuttle Run
    • Ready – stand with toes just behind starting line
    • Turn & Reach – turn body to one side when reaching for a block / beanbag
    • Put – put 1st block / beanbag behind starting line
    • Finishing – accelerate past the finish line before slowing down
  3. Social skills
    • Communicate effectively with peers during playtime
    • Take turns while playing with peers
    • Demonstrate responsibility during PE lessons (School Value)
