Artist statement:
The past, present and the future of Singapore is worth celebrating. We have come so far from where we were to where we are now. We believe that the future will be an even brighter and a more colourful one just like the buildings.

Teacher’s statement:
The trio managed to work together to reach the end product. However, the importance is not in the end product. The process in which the trio compromised, discussed their ideas and stayed resilient was something that I would like to commend on. Well done, team! – Ms Erwina Affandi

Category B
Title: Our Vision
Artists: WEE WENROU CASTILLO (3A), BRANDEN TUNG YU XIONG (3B), LEOW ZI YI (3B), MUHAMMAD IZZ DANISH BIN ZUNAIDI (3B), TEOH CHEE FENG (3B), CHERYL CHAN LIN NAN (3C), TAN ZHEN JUN (3D), GOH MIN YAN (3E)

Artist statement:
We wanted to show the signature old huts and coconut trees in the kampong during early Singapore. The present includes the Merlion, one of the nation’s important icons. Our future includes high-rise buildings as Singapore develops, our population will continue to soar into the sky, just like our homes.

Teacher’s statement:
The students put in much effort as they brainstormed and agreed on the different materials used. The introduction of relief on the painting reacts with light to create tones and shadows, resulting in a more interesting texture than a painted surface. Great work done and teamwork! – Mr Lee Yuen Hwa

Category C
Title: Past, Present, Future
Artists: MAY THARAPHU @ MANDY KYAW MOE (6B), YIP LI YIN (6B), CHOO YINGXIN (6C), VISALINI D/O K P GANESAN (6C), PARVIN BANU D/O ABDUL LATHIFF (6F), TAN PEI NI (6F), KUIK SHUTING JOVIANNE (5E), LIEW MINRU (5E), ALLY MAE NGE HAN (5G)

Artist Statement:
Capturing the significant changes of Singapore through the eyes of a man from a young boy to an elderly, our artwork showcases how Singapore has transformed from a kampong village to a vibrant metropolis. The future holds the key to infinite possibilities, impeded only by our imaginations.

Teacher’s Statement:
The pupils had many ideas initially as they wanted to capture all of Singapore’s changes. Finally, after much compromise, they decided to focus on three major changes and had much joy creating their artwork. It was heart-warming as the pupils shared why each change had a special place in their hearts. – Ms Chen Liangrui
