The Principal's Message

Mrs Eunice Lim | Principal

“2020 will be remembered as an exceptional year for Fuchun Primary School.”

These were my exact words to our staff and students when school reopened in Term 3, 2020 after two months of Circuit Breaker in April and May. It was a time of uncertainties and many of us were filled with anxiety and trepidation about the situation ahead. Yet it was important how we chose to respond to the crisis then. To me, it was an opportune time to rally every member of our Fuchun Family together and tap into our inner strengths to get through the tough period, with resilience and positivity.

And indeed, 2020 did become an exceptional year for Fuchun Primary! Our staff worked in unity to provide the support and care for our students, while continuing to give them the best learning experiences possible despite the circumstances. At the same time, our students stepped up to show that they are capable of being resilient and staying focused to achieve their goals. They also showed care and support for their peers. Our Primary 6 (2020) students did us proud by doing very well in the PSLE. We also had a new record of 13 Primary 6 students who successfully applied for Direct School Admission to the secondary schools of their choice, where they will continue to pursue and develop their talents and strengths. We wish our Primary 6 students all the best in their new education journey ahead!

2020 was also the year that catalysed the necessary and positive changes we needed to prepare our Fuchunians well for the future. The insights we gleaned from the Home-Based Learning experience has given us clarity on what really matters when it comes to providing a quality and holistic education for our students. In 2021, we will embark on a new envisioning and strategic planning exercise to lay down new school plans, in line with the changes in Singapore’s education landscape and to meet the changing needs and profiles of our students and staff. We hope to invite our stakeholders (student representatives, Youth Alumni, School Advisory Board members, parents and staff) to participate in these envisioning conversations as we believe that the voices will give us a deeper understanding of our collective priorities and values for our growth journey ahead.

May 2021 be a year of positive growth and new beginnings for all in our Fuchun Family. Leveraging on our strong Culture of Care, we will continue to nurture every student holistically and provide them with the support and opportunities to be the best that they can be, regardless of their starting points. EVER ONWARD we shall go forth!

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Eunice Lim
