Our approach to Aesthetics Education

When pupils graduate from Fuchun Primary, our vision is to see them become life-long learners. As life-long learners, the pupils not only pursue knowledge in the academic domain,  they also become cultural citizens of the arts, displaying the ability to "aesthetically respond" (critically appreciating the arts and freely creating art forms expressive of life through feeling, the senses and the imagination).  The pupils should speak the language of the arts, see connections between the arts and the world beyond, and form possibilities of what could be their contributions towards a better world through the arts.


We adopt a 4A approach in teaching and learning of the Arts – Awareness, Acquisition, Appreciation and Accomplishment. The key attributes of an “aesthetically responding” pupil are summarised in the 4A grid below.
