ASEAN Cyberkids Camp 2018

ASEAN Cyberkids Camp

This year, two of our Primary 5 pupils were given the honour of representing Singapore in the ASEAN Cyberkids Camp 2018 organized by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI). The event was held from 4 to 7 September in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

During the event, our pupils interacted with participants from the other ASEAN Member States (AMS) and used their knowledge of Scratch programming to create a multimedia computer project based on the title ‘Smart City’.

“Besides improving in my ICT skills, I am thankful that I got to meet friends from the other ASEAN countries and learn about their customs and traditions.” One pupil recalls with fondness after the camp. The other pupil shared that participating in the camp has helped him to become a more confident speaker. “Our friends from the other ASEAN countries were very confident during the project presentation and I feel we have a lot that we can learn from them.” he said.

While working on the instant challenge given by the judges, our pupils had the opportunity to enhance their skills in adaptability and critical thinking. They also worked together to use ICT creatively to increase awareness of cross-cultural issues. For their efforts in the instant challenge, our pupils also received the Bronze Award. Looking back, we can say that it has truly been a fruitful learning trip for the pupils.
